Description

Hirudin is the most active and most researched ingredient among the various active ingredients extracted from leeches and their salivary glands. It is a small molecular protein (polypeptide) composed of 65-66 amino acids. Hirudin has a strong inhibitory effect on thrombin, and is the strongest natural specific inhibitor of thrombin found so far.

Function

1. Hirudin has a highly specific and efficient inhibitory effect on thrombin. It can directly inhibit thrombin and hinder the proteolytic function of thrombin, so it has anticoagulant effect. Compared with heparin, hirudin requires less dosage, does not cause bleeding, and does not depend on endogenous cofactors.
2. The hematoma absorption of acute cerebral hemorrhage can reduce the inflammatory reaction and edema around the brain tissue, relieve the increase of intracranial pressure, improve local circulation, and help the recovery of nerve function; it can also promote the absorption of experimental hematoma in the ear.
3. Its water extract has obvious antagonism effect on acute myocardial ischemia and arrhythmia; intraperitoneal injection of hirudin can increase nutritional blood flow. Intravenous injection of leech fluid can promote and reduce atrial fibrillation and surrounding inflammatory response.
4. Insulin resistance is common in patients with type 1 diabetes, accounting for almost 90%. Hirudin can be used as an insulin sensitizer, which can enhance the body's sensitivity to its own insulin, so that its own insulin can be revived and fully play its role, reducing blood sugar; diabetes will destroy all blood vessel walls, produce inflammatory reactions, and form blood clots, resulting in Necrosis of eyes, kidneys, and lower limbs.
